Venge Scout's Honor Red Blend
Named for the winemaker's beloved rescue Lab, a hedonistic California red that lives up to the legend.
Scout's Honor Red Blend is made by Kurt Venge, one of Napa Valley's most acclaimed winemakers, and named for his beloved rescue Labrador Retriever, Scout. The wine is a multi-appellation California blend drawing from Napa Valley, Sonoma, and beyond, a philosophy of blending for pleasure rather than appellation prestige that gives Venge enormous creative latitude.
The wine is, as Robert Parker famously described it, 'a hedonistic fruit bomb', and he was right, though that phrase sells the structure short. There is real backbone here beneath the richness: layers of dark cherry, cassis, blackberry jam, and a beautiful thread of tobacco and cedar from careful oak aging. The tannins are polished, the finish is long, and the whole package is deeply satisfying from the moment the cork is pulled.
Scout's Honor is consistently recognized among the finest California red blends at any price.
Pairs well with: Dry-aged Steak, BBQ Brisket, Short Rib, Aged Cheddar, Chocolate Desserts
Some wines are made with a story behind them. Scout's Honor is made with heart. It shows in the glass.
