Meet The Maker
Sage Bird Ciderworks was founded in downtown Harrisonburg, Virginia by Zach and Amberlee Carlson, who started making fermented beverages in their apartment in 2014 and spent years refining their craft before opening Virginia's first cidery in 2020. Known for award-winning ciders made from locally sourced apples, Sage Bird expanded in 2025 with Whimsy, a wine label born from the same DIY spirit and community focus that defines everything they make. Love Song is one of the first three wines released under the Whimsy brand, and it reflects the Carlsons' approach perfectly: approachable, honest, and made to be enjoyed with the people around you.
