Hark Vineyards Spark is one of Virginia's most exciting wine, a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot from Hark's 80-acre estate in Earlysville, just northwest of Charlottesville in the Monticello AVA. Made by winemaker Jake Busching in the estate's solar-powered production facility, Spark is 100% estate-grown and estate-made, a rarity for Virginia wine.
The 2022 Spark delivers a compelling nose of dark berry, lingonberry, graphite, and cedar, with a focused, structured palate, fine bubbles, and a clean, mineral finish. It is more serious and vinous, with real depth and the structure to pair beautifully with a range of foods, oysters, charcuterie, roasted poultry, and aged cheeses all perform exceptionally alongside it.
The 2022 Spark earned a Gold Medal at the 2025 Virginia Governor's Cup. The 2019 vintage was included in the 2024 Governor's Cup Case, one of the twelve highest-scoring wines in the state.

Hark Vineyards is a family-owned, estate-focused winery in Earlysville, Virginia, founded by Candice and Aaron Hark in 2015. The estate spans 80 acres, with 20 acres planted across eight varietals in the Monticello AVA. Winemaker Jake Busching, a veteran of Jefferson Vineyards, Keswick, and Michael Shaps, brings serious credibility and a deep knowledge of Virginia terroir to every wine produced here. The solar-powered production facility is among the most forward-thinking in the state, reflecting the Harks' commitment to quality and sustainability. In just a few vintages, Spark has become one of Virginia's most decorated wines.
